Being an au pair can be such a rewarding and fulfilling life experience. It can also come with some very specific and challenging situations, which is what the FATE community is here for. This is a safe an open space to share experiences, ask for and also give advice.
Contract - should we make one?
I hear stories all too often of au pairs that are having problems with their host families because they feel like they are working too many hours or host families who are annoyed that their au pair isn’t doing all of the things they would like their au pair to be doing.
The first thing I always ask is if they talked about it in the interview and if it is written in the contract. Surprisingly, the most common response I get is: “We don’t have a contract.”
